We're pleased to have placed the talented duo 'Geejay' onto Co-Op Radio. Co-Op radio currently has 18 and a half million listeners a week (including customers and staff) across 2,400 sites across the UK.

GeeJay is a London/Bournemouth-based duo consisting of vocalist Gina Jane and producer/multi-instrumentalist Jacob Lobo. Gina’s smooth, soulful, and powerful voice blends seamlessly with Jacob’s refined piano chords, groovy rhythms, and bursts of saxophone and flute. GeeJay is part of a new wave of UK artists known for their soulful, emotive, and melodic sound.

With two EPs to their name, GeeJay has garnered over 12 million streams and received widespread critical acclaim from outlets like The Guardian, BBC Radio 2’s Fearne Cotton, BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Jamz Supernova, and CLASH, among others.

In October 2022, the duo learned they were expecting their first child. This prompted them to pause live performances and public posts to focus on preparing for the new arrival. However, the news didn’t slow their songwriting; in fact, the break allowed them to focus intensely, laying the groundwork for their debut album.

Following their child’s birth, Gina and Jacob returned to the studio to finish the final vocal recordings, often with their baby in the room. There were moments when the baby’s sounds—whether soft coos or sudden cries—added a unique, real-world texture to the album. In one notable instance, a cry aligned with a bridge breakdown, which they chose to keep, and this moment can be heard on the track “I’ll Be Your Best Friend.”

Their debut album, What’s the Sun Without the Rain?, entirely self-written and produced, is set for release in 2024. The first single, “Stronger Than You Think,” has already caught the attention of Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1 Future Artists) and Robert Elms (BBC Radio London).
