Newcastle four piece The Old Pink House further cement their growing reputation for knowing their way around an irresistible pop hook with the track “Cruel”. Like previous releases, “Cruel” showcases the band's ability to craft infectious melodies that are fused with a psychedelic bite, but explores new territories in their arsenal with its confessional lyrics and glistening synths. Orbiting around a taut hip hop inspired rhythm section is a guitar line that swings around a sing along festival ready chorus.
Initially born from the bedroom recording project of front man Christopher Brown, the group came together through a shared enthusiasm for blissed out modern psychedelia and a keen pop sensibility. Having garnered early support from Spotify UK and with shows supporting art pop experimentalists Let's Eat Grandma and fellow up and coming Newcastle band The Pale White, they have quickly become a word of mouth band for their high energy live shows and ability to transcend genre.
