Gymnast are Manchester-based duo Cathy Wilcock (lead vocals, guitar, electronics) and Chris Lyon (synth, cello, vocals, programming). Their music sits somewhere between alt-pop, trip-hop, and electronica and they make a habit of playing it live in unusual places; the top of a skyscraper in Manchester; a mediaeval chapel in Cambridge; inside the ‘shark’s mouth’ in the Olympic Park. Their debut album ‘Wild Fleet’ is out 26.09.14.

‘After causing ripples of delight across the blogosphere with debut single Geneva earlier this year, they’re finally about to drop a debut album, Wild Fleet – a record that will, if there’s any justice, elevate them from Manc music darlings to serious national contenders.’ (Manchester Evening News)

‘Under the influence of Wild Beasts and following hot-on-the-heels of new Secretly Canadian signing Woman‘s Hour come Gymnast with their own brand of refined and sultry modernism.’ (DIY)

‘A band with the potential for huge, sweeping sounds capable of capturing imaginations anywhere and everywhere’ (Scotland on Sunday)

‘Urbane contemporary pop music … the sort of poised sonics that, were they made palpable, would likely be made available for purchase in The Conran Shop’ (Dots and Dashes)
