Debian Blak holds his own as one of the most exciting, emerging producers in recent times. His critically-acclaimed debut EP, ‘A Hint of Menace’ catapulted him to the forefront of the underground electronic scene, and along with his new EP ‘Six Months From Mars’ EP and single ‘Push It’ he has since been championed by likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, B.Traits and Mistajam on BBC Radio 1, Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 MUSIC and counts Daedelus and Nicolas Jaar as his many new fans.
Starting in late 2011, Debian began developing his high-energy two-man and one woman live show featuring drums, bass, keys, vocals, and samplers. Not content with the average electronic ‘live’ performance of pressing space bar and fiddling with a MIDI controller, the show exhibits his unique raw flare for capturing beauty through imperfection, with a striking blend of verging-on-abrasive sounds alongside soothing melodic vulnerability. The continued progression of Blak’s live show has since culminated in a demand for shows across the UK, bookings in Croatia and a month-long tour of Australia at the start of 2012.
This summer, after supporting AlunaGeorge and selling out his headline London show, he prepares for a string of festival appearances and live dates.
